Dan Grois received a PhD degree from the Communication Systems Engineering Department, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU), Be’er-Sheva, Israel, in 2011, where he was a Senior Researcher until 2013. From mid-2013 until 2017, he was a Senior Researcher with the Video Coding and Analytics Department, Fraunhofer Institute for Telecommunications – Heinrich Hertz Institute (HHI), Berlin, Germany. Since 2017, he has been a Principal Researcher at Comcast, Philadelphia, PA, where he is mainly working on advanced perceptual video quality optimization techniques for HDR ultrahigh definition (UHD) video coding, including neural network-based optimizations. Dan was granted various fellowships, including the Kreitman Fellowships, ERCIM Alain Bensoussan Fellowship, and Marie Skodowska-Curie Fellowship. In addition, he actively participates in the video standardization activities of ISO/IEC and ITU-T organizations, such as JCT-VC and JVET, and is an active contributor of the HEVC and VVC standards. Dan is an author/coauthor of around 100 publications in the area of image/video coding and data processing. Since 2021, he is an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology (TCSVT), and since 2022, Dan is a Department Editor of the "Industry and Standards" section of the IEEE Multimedia Journal. Dan is a Senior member of IEEE, and a member ACM, SPIE, SCTE, SMPTE organizations.

Nelson Francisco received a MSc degree in Electronics Engineering in 2008 from the University of Tras-os-Montes e Alto Douro (Portugal) and a PhD in Signal processing in 2012 from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).
Between 2007 and 2012 he collaborated with the Portuguese Telecommunication Institute (IT) on several government funded projects focused on image and video processing, while also working as an Assistant Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria (Portugal) from 2010 to 2012. In 2013, he joined the Multimedia Telecommunication group of the Poznan University of Technology (Poland) as a visitant Post-doc researcher, to work on multi-view video processing.
He joined Ericsson in 2013 as a Research Engineer, having collaborated in the development of the core compression algorithms used on both hardware and software encoding solutions for live and on-demand applications.
Since 2018, he has been a Principal Video Compression Engineer at MediaKind, mainly focusing his research on the use of AI and ML for media processing and delivery applications, ranging from encoder optimization to emerging topics such as super-resolution or video semantics analysis.
